Bigstring, the corporation which developed a web-based recallable email service (Bigstring.com) and the sister company of PeopleString was formerly leading the the field just a few short years ago in free self-destructing and email tracking services. Unfortunately, they seem to have lost direction or focus and do not appear to be offering new registrations in 2012. They have paired the homepage of the site with PrivateString and any registration only defines the PrivateString social wall application. Social network messaging has not replaced email correspondence so I'm lost as to what prompted this odd decision. Even the functionality of the Bigstring service has suffered following "upgrades" which seem to have downgraded tracking and editing features.
Initially with Bigstring self-destructing email you could track the IP address of those who opened your email - this feature was lost in their subsequent upgrades for some time. Although it has since returned, the ability to rely on changes you make to emails after they are sent have declined. While the changes are reflected in your recallable email sent folder - including an update confirmation, the recipient email is unaffected and changes are never seen by the recipient of the recall email. Thankfully, the self destructing email ability remains intact and functions as it should. Fortunately PeopleString offers recallable email, self-destructing email and email tracking services with function similar to that offered by Bigstring.
When the recall email or self-destructing e-mail option is selected for the sender is able to place a time limit on self-destructing messages or a view limit on recall e-mail. The recall email will then self-destruct after a certain amount of time or views. Self-destructing email is invaluable when sending sensitive information or when feeling regret over an emotional response. How many times have you wished that you could recall email or take advantage of self-destructing email? With PeopleString recallable email feature you can do just that. Built in video email is also a free offering from people string and of course requires a webcam or video input system. The masquerade feature of the PeopleString email allows you to set the appearance of who your email is coming from to either be from another address or appear as if it comes from your first and/or last name rather than your standard PeopleString email. While there are several paid email tracking services (and I have used them all) PeopleString is one of the very few offering this recall email service for free. This is a great service to having your email arsenal. If you would like your own recall or self-destructing email then create your free PeopleString account today! [EDIT: PeopleString has discontinued the email features of their program as of Sept. 20, 2012.] |
