To answer logically (and light-heartedly), let's take a look at PeopleString from it's beginning.
No, seriously, is PeopleString a scam?
It could be - after all, PeopleString Corp. is based in Red Bank, New Jersey but most internet scams though don't go through the hassle of being publically traded. Peoplestring is traded on NASDAQ - PeopleString Corporation (PLPE)
Just the facts.

PeopleString is a free social networking platform which is incentive-based - allowing users to share in revenue generated from their online activities through the PeopleString portal. If Peoplestring is a scam then they are doing so without taking any of your money. Some of the services they've included in their social networking portal include:
free recall email PrivateString shopping portal for savings and exclusive offers up to 37.5% off the ability to earn cash for sending/receiving email, chatting, surfing, searching, etc.,(doing things you do anyway on the computer) the ability to earn cash from referring friends, family, etc.
PeopleString may be the only internet scam that provides you with free, reliable services.
In 2009, when PeopleString was founded, what set this company apart was the concept of giving users back 70% of advertisement revenue - if PeopleString is a scam then it's an usual one. To my knowledge this was the first social media company to return advertising revenue to it's users. Naturally others have followed but I believe they are the first. As members click on ads, send and receive e-mails, search, play games, and shop online through PeopleString, etc. 70% of the earned advertising revenue is shared with those users based on how much they go through the PeopleString interface.
Based upon my own "investigation" into learning is PeopleString a scam, here's what else I've discovered:
Looking further for a PeopleString scam, I used Google Insights web search tool (shown on the upper right). Of course it won't tell you if Peoplestring is a scam but you can see that interest (as told by the number of searches for "peoplestring" quickly rose and peaked in June 2010 and again in February 2011. What's curious is there is very little interest in the US regarding PeopleString. That does not make Peoplestring a scam. The top three countries searching for information regarding "peoplestring" are the Ukraine, Croatia, and Indonesia! I found this surprising for a little company based in New Jersey.
Pouring through the internet scam and PeopleString forums scattered across the internet, I've reviewed hundreds of posts from people detailing their PeopleString experiences. As with anything, some reflect positively while others reflect negatively. Also, it's no coincidence that those who are succeeding with a program (or trying to) will bias their comments trying to get you to "buy" what they're selling; those who have failed (or failing) of course scream "scam".
Let's summarize: Is PeopleString a scam? PeopleString offers a free social networking service - they're offering you services that require no money. That is not a scam. Has interest in PeopleString decreased since it's 2009 launch? Absolutely - but that doesn't make it a scam. PeopleString offers you a means to earn cash doing things you already do on the internet and referring friends, family, acquaintances and so on. Not surprisingly, this is the point where people start questioning is PeopleString a scam. A couple things to consider. PeopleString offers the means to earn that revenue without ever asking for money - they simply don't. Now, they do offer an entrepreneur package whereby you can increase your earnings but that is optional - not required. The multi-level marketing approach PeopleString has incorporated into their program is, in my opinion, the source of suspicion to our primary question - is peoplestring a scam.
However, based upon my research - PeopleString is not a scam.
Finally, why should you trust my PeopleString review - my "investigation"? First, it's true - I am an active PeopleString member. How else would I be able to provide a review if I were not a member or never utilized their social networking portal or services? I could not. Am I biased because of this? No, I'm an not a PeopleString entrepreneur. I have never paid for an entrepreneur package and one has not been made available to me at any point in time. I enjoy the using the PeopleString portal and I especially enjoy the recallable email feature of the service. [EDIT: Peoplestring recently deactivated the entire email feature of the program with a 7 day notice to members] I'm a regular user of the service and enjoy spreading the word about features I enjoy. A video screencast of my peoplestring back office will document that I am a free, not paid, member of PeopleString. I have no incentive to mislead you.
I am saddened by the waning interest in the PeopleString social networking platform, particularly in the United States. If the company folds, then so does my beloved recall email feature! Selfish reasons, perhaps - but the truth. Doesn't that make me biased? Of course not. I have the same frustrations and aggravations with PeopleString in terms of customer support as anyone else does with any other free internet service (ever tried to contact someone from Google?) for the occasional problem.
I'm not here to tell you that you will become rich or earn hundreds of dollars for doing nothing. You won't. I will tell you however that PeopleString is not a scam. They offer free services and the opportunity to earn your share in cash from advertisers that other social networking services are pocketing themselves.
[EDIT: Peoplestring has not shared any of the advertising revenue with their members since May 2012. As this is the premise of the entire program it seems an odd manner of conducting business. Proceed with caution.]
